How long do you think civilization as we know it will last?

With the political unrest everywhere in the world, mutating frogs, killer bee's, pollution, destruction of oxygen prducing rain forest's, weather patterns becoming more violent, Boy's becoming girls and visa versa, new (and old) diseases cropping up, nutrient depletion in the soil, overpopulation, bad spelling due to internet lingo, cloning humans, beer that used to be imported now being made in the U.S. and humans in general disrespecting each other.

Since my major in college was Anthropology, I feel i should be qualified to answer this question! http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
But the Mayans were a powerful and sophisticated civilization in Central America from about 700AD to about 1000AD. (You could do an internet search to get more precise informaiton than what I am recalling here, of course http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )
They had a very sophosticated calander that was more accurate than any European calander of the same period. Anyway, I think the calander 'expires' at some point but I don't know the details on this. Some people believe the world will come to end at that point!! http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Remember 'Y2K' http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Just today I read a wierd article about the planet X, so called 12th planet that approaches the Earth each 3600 years or something like this. Some people warn others that in May this year, 2003, everything will come to an end, since this planet will come too close to us making poles first stop with its magnetic force or else and then shift. They predict we won't ever live longer than till May.
Anyone heard anything about that crap?

P.S. Poor city of mine, we're going to have 300th anniversary in May. Though legends say the city will be destroyed by a huge wave when it's 300 years old. Can it be the result of that planet coming close? http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
