View Full Version : Why Western men seek Eastern ladies

Elena,

Welcome to the forum http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif We don't have too many women here and it is always nice when someone comes along. You've started topic in "FreeTalks", I thought here would be better place to discuss it and open new thread on the subject. I'm sure guys and myself would be interested to learn your views on internetional marriage and women's life in FSU.

I can only imagine the happiness you all seem to have found .. cause I am still in the process of trying to build something up. Bearing in mind that I am a guy who favours direct contact, so this internet thing seems to go real slow for me.. http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Why do western men seek eastern ladies? Frankly I wish I knew. I think there is no such thing as a srandard reply.
Is it because when you browse the net you seem to find them readily available 'en masse' - Or is it because we men still see ourselves as the knights in shining armour looking for a lady in distress to save from her horrible faith that russia or eastern countries must be? forgetting that we sometimes are the courts jesters only there to entertain them ladies.
Am I disappointed? No - I have tried this site only twice, and unfortunately fell tor apparently wrong ladies - just looking for a way out or a blank check.
Do I give up? No, why?
Because I think that I am as selfish as any man, looking for happiness and love, and what more proof can there be if a woman is willing to leave her country and follow you wherever you go? Is it some romantic - maybe unrealistic Idea - Perhaps..
But life is built on dreams and you may call me foolish but I still want to dream.
Patrick is right when he says that to him it seems that western women seem to value you on the amount of time and money you are willing to spend, - and as usual not all of them - but I guess we singles are on the wrong side to fairly judge that.
Maybe we all want a woman from the east because they still have simple values, but at least they honor them.
One thing that never seems to amaze me is the need they all seem to have to create a 'happy family' with loads of children. Now I have none and never felt incomplete without them - so I reckon it will be hard to find a match...
and sure there are scams, but aren't there any men who scam?? let's be honest guys.. we all look for the maximum output with the minimum input.. and making a womans dream come true is what we all want, cause that makes our dream come true, and that is the value eastern women seem to understand much better then the one's over here.
Bless them all.. and may we all be so lucky to find what we are looking for.
Dan

I think that there are many different reasons for different people but here are my reasons.

First, when I used Internet dating sites I found that most women did not really want to date. They seemed to be playing with the sites or maybe they were waiting for some perfect movie star to come along and discover them. But then I discovered the russian women dating sites and it was a completely different story. It seems that Russian women are using the Internet in a completely different way, not just to play games but as a serious tool to find men who will marry them. I think that this will be an important reason why most western men are seeking women from the ex-USSR countries. These women have figured out the right formula for dating on the Internet, so it is no surprise that they are successful.

The second reason is that Russia and the people of Russia are very highly regarded in the western world. We know that the people in the ex-USSR have an excellent education system and we know that they managed to accomplish many things even though they were held back by an inefficient and corrupt system of government after the 1939 war. Many of us are not happy with the aspects of western culture that prizes stupidity and rude behaviour so we look towards the ex-USSR countries for a wife who prizes intelligence, politeness, respect and elegance.

And I think we all realize that the world of the late 20th century is going away. The USA is no longer guaranteed to dominate the world economy or the world culture. The mainstream of western culture has become stale and it is stuck in reliving past glories. We need new ideas, new ways of doing things. And Russia is a large country (population and size) that does think differently because of it's Asian ties and it's isolationist history during the Cold War. Also, Russians think big, they put the first satellite in space and they have developed the vast spaces of Siberia much more effectively than Canada. Russia may be the source of the new ideas that we need in this century and that makes everything about Russia, fascinating and attractive. Including the women.

By and large you are probably right.

However, with respect to Siberia:

People who have been there are not quite so happy with certain places in Siberia. Some 'progress' was made without too many concerns about the environment.

To quote Tom Lehrer: "Don't drink the water, don't breathe the air"

PS to previous posting:

Some places in Siberia were developed by people who did not want to be there.
And who were not paid.

I am not sure Canada wants to be 'developed' that way.

I am Canadian and we made the same kinds of mistakes as Russia but perhaps on a smaller scale. I can think of an Arctic town built on permafrost that had to be moved several miles and rebuilt using techniques from Russia. And the mercury pollution in many Canadian fishing rivers from paper factories. And the acid rain that has affected large areas in eastern Canada and which killed all the trees around the town of Trail, B.C. And the overfishing of codfish on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. And cutting down large amounts of trees in the western mountains causing mudslides and heavier floods in the rivers in early summer.

Russia made mistakes and maybe some of those mistakes had larger consequences but the British SAS has a nice saying that sums it up. Who dares, wins. Russians are more willing to dare. As long as they learn from their mistakes, they will overtake the United States in a generation. I remember when I was a child we would make jokes about products that were "Made in Japan" because they were cheap junk. But the people in that country learned from their mistakes, slowly improved year after year, and now they lead the world in many areas of technology. Russia could very well advance in similar ways and the women who marry western men (and their bilingual Russian children) will play and important role in that advancement.

Wavetossed,
I agree with a lot of what you have said however may I ask you to clarify when you say 'overtake the United States in a generation'?
Why should any country have a wish to overtake the USA, just exactly what are the USA world leaders at?
Could it be the lack of quality control regarding their space shuttle programme that has to date led to the loss of 2 shuttles and crews, could it be their failed attempts to take-over Vietnam or Somalia with tragic losses of life (no wish to refer to more recent events), could it be their practically non-existent airport security (enough said) or could it be MacDonalds and the obesity and ill-health that leads to?
Just exactly why should any country wish to compete with the USA?

I agree wave but siberia has been developed through its use as a giant place of exile, deportation of russian people a massive scale, slavery, gulags, death-camps, prisoners-of-war. And its always been at the suffering of the russian population.

Re.:
"...Russia made mistakes and maybe some of those mistakes had larger consequences but the British SAS has a nice saying that sums it up. Who dares, wins. Russians are more willing to dare. ..."

When SAS dares and wins they are in the middle of it.

When the Russian government of the past were willing to dare, it was the people who suffered the consequences, not the members of the government.

Why indeed.
And why are they trying?

But, Europe never really forgave USA that USA had to solve Europe's mess twice - both WW I and WW II would have been very different without USA.

(And France never quite forgave GB for WW II either. -When France 'rolled over' and GB continued....)

Van,
What exactly was Europe's mess during WW11, would you be referring to the Japanese attack on the Hawaian Islands that brought USA into the conflict years behind all the others?
I understood it to be a world war not a European war.

Things would have been somewhat different if USA could have concentratet on the Pacific.

And, by the way: Singapore was British as was Malaysia, but UK was ill prepared. You can count that as an 'European' or 'Asian' question. (?)
Holland and Portugal were also ill prepared in Asia. (European or Asian 'mess' ?)(Other problems that are 'after-effects' of the problems created by Holland and Portugal in Asia still lingers !)

Lend-Lease did actually have some influence on the outcome.
And: Where did the military material delivered to Murmansk originally come from?

US soldiers died in North Africa and in Europe.
How many European soldiers were involved in USA's war between May 1945 and August 1945?

However, perhaps the thing Europe found most difficult to forgive was the Marshall plan after the war.

04-02-2004, 04:00 PM
PS to previous posting.

-And, it continues....

Actually, Kosovo is in Europe, so today the 'mess' there should be considered 'European mess'.
Why does Europe not sort it out.
Without involving NATO resources (incl. US resources).

Could it be that Europe has been very busy working on improving everybody's living standard...

While it was left to USA to take care of Security...

...........................
PS
All this is of course totally irrelevant in the context of this Forum - except that it (like religion, etc.) is a topic that should be considered 'dangerous' if people have opposite views!

MartinUK,

As you yourself point out:
There were TWO wars:

1) European
-started when Germany invaded Poland (1939)
This one finished in May 1945

2) Pacific
-started when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor (1941)
This one finished in August 1945

My final words on the subject and back to my previous words that seemed to have caused this dispute, namely, 'What exactly are USA world leaders at?'

And what has that to do with the topic of this thread?

Why do you want a russian wife Martin, or you Van? Or me for that matter.

No particular reason I guess. She don't have to be russian, it doesn't matter where she's from as long as it is "true love". Heard that one before http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

After reading a lot of posts in this forum and girls profiles I am starting to feel a bit unsure about getting a russian wife. Despite the fact that most of them have a higher education I get the impression that once married they want to stay at home with the kids, or just to make it "cozy". But according to Nataliya that only applies to 80 % of them http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

It seems we have a very 'touchy' subject here.
This is not a History forum, so, by and large history should be debated somewhere else.

However, History has an impact on how people feel.
And much of the British dislike for 'Americans' actually comes from WW II when the US soldiers were "Over-paid, over-sexed, and over here" - A 'Dating issue' !

Re. The reference to Vietnam and Somalia - and Europe vs USA:
Viet Cong 'cut their teeth' fighting the French (a European colonial power) in French Indo-China.
Most of the problems in Africa stems from its colonial past (European colonial powers)
(Europe 'dropped the bundle', US picked it up, handles it badly, ad is critisized for it....)

And NOW:
Back to the real issue (or one of them)
Why Western men seek Eastern ladies

Some of the answers are found in another forum where men from US and UK (among others) are complaining about their women becoming 'americanized' in their behaviour.

Oops.

Yep, afraid so http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif otherwise an invasion of mainland japan was gonna be the only other way of winning (as in europe) and that would've been at similair cost to civilian life plus an estimated half-million allied soldier casualties. Welcome back.

Have you been dodging mistletoe all this time?

You are totally right of course. Something got 'derailed' somewhere...

However, you know history is a touchy subject. Not much more than half a century ago you neighbour-country sold iron ore to Hitler.... (-and did they hear a few remarks about it afterwards....)

Re.: "...No particular reason I guess. She don't have to be russian, it doesn't matter where she's from as long as it is "true love". Heard that one before ...."
---but "true love" gets a hard time if you do not agree somewhat on certain questions (religion, politics, etc.) so 'research' into what topics are 'touchy' might not be a waste of time....

Re.: "...Despite the fact that most of them have a higher education I get the impression that once married they want to stay at home with the kids, or just to make it "cozy". ..."
1) They might write that because they think some men want to read that (?)
2) Even if "she" stays home, her education might allow her to take part in an intellectual conversation.

It's funny how this thread has moved into war and politics.

When I was talking about Russia I was talking about the people of Russia and not the governments or armies of Russia.

As for slavery and forced migration, Great Britain sent many citizens to prison colonies in Australia. But today, this is no longer done and today, Australians are free people. Great Britain also sent many African slaves to colonies in the Carribean and America. Today the people of the Carribean and America run their own lives. During the 1939 war, the United States and Canada exiled many Japanese people to concentration camps far from the ocean ports where most of them used to live. But today, those Japanese people are free citizens of Canada and the USA.

Let's not live in the past; let's live in today.

About competing with the USA and overtaking the USA. First, this is not the same as trying to be like the USA. It means that I believe that during this century, people around the world will admire Russia for the achievements of the Russian people in the same way that the people of the world admired the USA during the last 50 years. This is what it means to be a leader. It has nothing to do with attacking the USA. The USA are world leaders in film, in popular music, and in many areas of cultural life. Think of things like blue jeans, Coca-cola, consumerism, advertising. These are things that other countries have adopted, imported or tried to imitate in some way. That makes the USA a leader.

Of course this doesn't mean that other countries are not leaders in other areas of life. Britain has lots of influence in music and film as well. Germany makes excellent cars. Japan is the source of superior electronics.

As for Europe's mess. We should thank the 26 million Russians who died in the 1939 war and whose fighting weakened the German army enough so that they were not able to complete the invasion of Britain and they were not able to complete their atomic bombs and destroy New York and Chicago. Let's remember that the 1939 war was a cooperative effort between many countries.

We now live in a new world where cooperation between peoples is more important than competition. We all admire Japanese technology and benefit from it. We all admire American movies and benefit from them. We all admire German cars and benefit from them. And we can all be friends no matter what country we are from. This message board and freepersonals.ru are all about building deep friendships with women from Russia. There are other forums for boasting and beating the drum about your own country.

The Russians have the right idea, "mir" is the word for "peace" and the word for "world".

Maybe the administrators should judge all our messages and delete the ones filled with nonsense.

wavetossed,

You have a very optimistic 'world view'.
People will often do 'the right thing' only when they have exhausted all other possibilities.

That is why 'values' is such an important issue.
Including Family values.
And I am not talking about old-fashioned family 'patterns' with the Father as the undisputed Head of the Family.
I think of 'commitment', 'loyalty', 'honesty', etc.

Re. History: Liam is right, history is an important study.
It allows you to recognise the mistakes the second time round. But apparently, people never learn!

Hi Martin
As for my part I am looking for mere feminine warmth, good communication and so on and on. Of course sex is very important in a relantioship no doubt but it is not men look for to begin with or at last at the first date. First of everything else I am looing for a friend partner and lover rolled into just one piece.
Would you be interested in a man who did not show any sexual desire ?
I bet you would not. So it is not so simple as in your conclussion.
Now why in the East then ?
it is so as I've learned that women from the East hasn't been spoiled by the Western civilization yet they have a lot to offer like their feminine warmth that could be sought elsewhere in vain.
So I think that you have jumped into your conclussion too quick.

Of course I can not say for all men , I can say just for me.
But I bet anything there is a lot of men like me.

Wish ya to change your view in this very regards.

Yes it is rather obvious, the ladies seek love and/or security, the men seek regular sex ..... next.
Quoted from memory:

"Marriage is the price men pay for Sex,
Sex is the price women pay for Marriage"

-is that how it is?

Still?

men seek regular sex ..... next.
by the bones of the Daemon Odin, thou art the boldestspoken man that ever I have seen in all my life. I know not why I do not smite thee down where thou sittest, for only two days ago I skewered a man over back of Nottingham Town for saying not half so much to me as thou hast done.
1) Odin is/was not a daemon

2) Nordic gods did not speak like an old translation of the Bible

3) In this context you probably need Frigga more than Odin (?)

4) -or perhaps Freya

-And, if you do not tone down, you might be hit on the head with the Hammer of Thor.

It would be interesting to hear about the connection between

Capitol

junk food

Capitol being
1) Temple of Jupiter in ancient Rome
2) Seat of US Congress in Washington, DC

The question should of been put why Eastern Women seek for Western Men ? Don't you think ?
And the answer is rather obvious isn't it ?
Actually.

If they read this forum they might re-think....

The thread is:
"Why Western men seek Eastern ladies"

-there could be a number of reasons

--a certain degree of intelligence, intellect and education

for example..

but, surely, there must be other reasons (?)

because some of the people who posted above would not know the meaning of

USA has been compared to the Roman empire. The Roman empire was brought down by the hordes of Vandals, Goths, Huns, etc. when it lost its 'values' and 'backbone'.
Is that all you happen to know about the Roman Empire ?

Why indeed http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
So maybe Western Women are too much uptight about money so Western men have figured that they can get some love for free elsehwhere.
Will they be disappointed ? or at least surprised ?

"(...)
Americans do have a bit of a superiority complex. We want to be the best at everything we do. Our attitudes demand victory, victory, victory

It seems we an enemy to feel good about ourselves. The fall of the Soviet Union was the worst thing that could have happened to us. No one to beat at the Olympics. No one to talk tough to

If anything was removed- there was a good reason for it, which I don't have to explain to you. What is your reason for posting under at least 6 different names, verbally abusing people, sometimes even talking to yourself? You even took the appropriate name this time- you're indeed the clown of this board (well, there's also J.A, but it's a different story).

I guess there is no need for you to explain your reasons, Liam already filled us in and he is a good professional. http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

04-06-2004, 03:14 PM
....
.
And what did you do to your Indians by the way ?
You are very quick to critize others not looking too much into your own backyard, eh ? Feller ?
...
.
..
"...your Indians..." ?

I have no Indians.
I have no Pakistanis either.
No Inuits.
No Laplanders.
etc.

And seriously:
It is my opinion that I should not accept 'Guilt by Association'.

I can - and I do -have strong feelings about what the
-Conquistadors did in America
-The British did in some places in India
-The Zulus did to the bodies of the British soldiers they killed at Isandhlwana
-The Swedish did to the Lapps
etc.

But I refuse to feel guilty for events and actions I have no part in.

Just because I have some characteristics like
-ethnic background ('race', 'culture', 'religion')
-skin colour
-gender
-nationality
etc.
in common with somebody does not mean that I should feel guilty for their actions.

It's more than enough that I have to take responsibility for my own actions.

And I recommend that people born in Ukraine after the death of Josef Stalin stop feeling guilty by association for what the Ukraine-born Stalin did to the Russians.

And should there be a testosterone-induced Xhosa-Zulu conflict I can feel sympathy with the victims on both sides and no particular 'male guilt'.

http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

And: "Don't mention the War" - I was not there!
http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

PS I have in other postings tried to analyse reasons for animosity.
Now I argue that we should 'turn a new leaf' and stop
'Guilt by Association'

04-06-2004, 03:20 PM
PS to previous posting:

-and why is this relevant to
"Why Western men seek Eastern ladies"

-because, if we stop 'Guilt by Association' we reduce the
'Us - Them' situation.

-And, instead of being seen as 'Western' and 'Eastern' we might one day be 'individual persons'.
http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

04-06-2004, 03:58 PM
Further to the posting above:

There is, however, one group which it is difficult to disassociate oneself from. The Family.

"Blood is thicker than water"

"Bare is brotherless back"
it says somewhere in the Icelandic Sagas. (-since the old Icelandic heros spoke little modern English something could be lost in translation).

While I think that I should not feel guilt for actions by family members, I do feel loyalty, and do feel a certain obligation to act on behalf of family members.
Very much so.

"....Why Western men seek Eastern ladies...."

-notice the word: "men"

-most males have moments when they are 'boys' (e.g. when they are drinking beer with other men while watching football [or soccer]), but for some of them it is only some of the time....

'Eastern ladies' might want to have children, but the husband should not be one of them.
Lack of maturity is probably a 'put-off'..........

Wow, this topic went from "Why Western men seek...", to America bashing, to "I'm gonna bash you"! So, I'll try and start it in the right direction, again. I search for a wife abroad because the value system of most American women I know is distorted. I want to meet a woman who will put her family first and support the with all her heart the institution of marriage. There are too many women out there who use marriage as a 'lay-over' until they find something better. Of course, this is only my opinion and experience. http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The person shouldn't be, if the marriage is not working, but to enter one, thinking that it's only on a "temporary basis" and just a "way out" is very deceitful and unfair to the other party.

Even when you bet on the best horse- it doesn't mean she's going to become a winner.
Nataliya ,

Where do you live ? You sounds the same like Thunderdome - he dreams to WIN someone's heart. Why you always say about competitions ?

Horses can be different. There are horses which work on the farm fields. They don't take part in competitions, but they are the best for somebody, who needs it.

I know a man who does consider a marriage as a business. Either he is a businessman, or a gambler. He bet on several horses - he has a lot of money. He can game to win even something. He doesn't know who is the best...time will show ... he said that a person can lie doing business.

I know another man who met two the best women in his life. Now he lives together with the third one. Recently he said that she is not the best one.
Could you explain me :
- Is marriage a business ?
- How can a person meet several "best" ones in his life?
- Can you live with a person if you know that he/she is not the best on http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

I'm not sure I follow the analogy that marriage is a horse race. I rather believe it to be a partnership, held together with trust and love. Maybe this is an oldfashion view, but it is one demonstrated to me by my parents. If they had some kind of competition going on, I was not aware of it. Working together in a relationship seems to me to be a better way of achieving the future success of the marriage.
