In the UK there is a sort of tradition of the holiday romance. People fly off to an exotic location for 2 weeks holiday, meet someone and have a fling. Sometimes these flings develop into full-blown romance and lead to marriage.

I wonder whether Americans ever do this type of thing. It seems to me that American men need a lot of convincing to get them to consider going to Russia. Maybe you don't have so many nearby exotic locations as we do in Europe or maybe you just treat holidays a lot differently.

I'm not complaining about the differences, just trying to tell you that you don't know what you are missing. Make a friend or two through email and phonecalls and then VISIT RUSSIA!

For some reason most men who start corresponding with Russian women never visit Russia. This comes from an analysis by Elena's Models which is one of the bigger agencies connecting Russian women with foreign men. They talk openly about this and Russian women themselves discuss this sad statistic. So it is highly likely that your pen friend in Russia has read one or more articles in women's magazines about this problem.

This leads to an interesting tactic for you to improve your chances. Simply go to Russia to visit her. She will feel like she is beating the statistics which puts her in a better mood for you to work your romantic charms. Email and phonecalls can only go so far.

Wavetossed,
It is said that only 5% of guys that write only ever travel, this is in the main due to the modern generation a.k.a. 'Keyboard Romeos'.

I lived overseas for many years, living in Ostend I had to disguise my nationality due to all the idiots arriving on the day trip boats from UK, idiots indeed.

For similar reasons, I would never consider a holiday to Spain or Ibiza etc. Working in the airline industry it is said that the cheaper the holiday the more stupid the passenger. This can be gauged by the length of flight from UK, Spain is the shortest flight time at 2-2.5 hours.

Once upon a time, being ex military from the cold war era I was 'afraid' to travel to FSU, for many years I wasn't allowed to but having once been trained to fight these people it leaves a sub-concious phobia.

Nowadays I travel to FSU without second thoughts but not for holiday romance. I don't believe one can describe travelling to such countries as a holiday but these countries are full of what must be some of the most sincere, polite and friendly people on this planet, I'm off there again this Saturday and whilst her city is a dump I can't wait to see her and her charming family again.

Let's face it, holiday romances are more often than not just a sex thing that doesn't last for long once the holiday is over. To maximise the chances of finding a more sincere lady one needs to travel to FSU and it's one of the few places left whereas disgrace hasn't yet been brought upon the British by the 'Lager Lout' fraternity.

P.S. There does seem to be an attitude, occassionally heard of, whereas a guy wants to travel to FSU, marry the 1st or 2nd girl he meets and live happily ever after.
Some people believe in love at first sight but it is not available by mail order. Whether the lady be from FSU, USA or wherever any relationship, one that has a realistic chance of lasting, needs to develop naturally and not be forced.
