Hi Leo,

In answer to your question, I have been fortunate to be corresponding with a lady who speaks basic English, although when we talk on the telephone, some, if not many of my words she does not understand! At times this can be very frustrating to say the least, however, I remind myself of how humble I am in her presence, albeit telephone presence! Actually I take my hat off to her, she gets very frustrated herself when she has difficulty in understanding me. As stated, I feel humble because, my Ukriane is "nada".

I tried a translation tool when corresponding, but was told to use English when writing, although she uses a translation tool for conversion to her own language, she tries to understand prior to converision, then gives herself a well earned pat on her back for guessing what I write and, what she has understood before converting to English, I find her efforts very admirible to say the least!

I am currently in the process of planning a trip to meet her in April, all going well, then perhaps she can conquer the English lanuage with me in the UK?

Anybody any tips on Odessa, any info appreciated?

Cheers.........

Jase.

Odessa airport is very little, the first you will meet when you get though passport control is a lot of taxi drivers looking after work.

Often it is cheper book hotel direct, I one time pay four times the cost of a room when i book it at a travel agent.
Odessa is one of the interesting cities to be in as tourist in Ukraine.
People drive car like hell down there. One time i was with a taxi driver I think that he think he was cat (cat have seven life)

I was in Odessa in summer 2004. So this may be considered "old" information.

1. Do not take the taxis outside the airport. They are ripp off scammers.

Cheers for the heads up guys, very much appreciated! When I arrive, my lady friend will be waiting for me:-) and she is going to organise accommodation for us both, so there is no need for me to book anything, thankfully!

I have noted the opera house, sounds very cool, as for eating out, well I hope to be spending what time we have, eating in? Lots to discuss!

Once again, thanks you both.

Jase.
