Katya,

You wrote:

"...that Russian woman will be Russian , ever if she will live in another country"

I do believe this also holds true for any woman or man who enters another country. The statement may be more true of a Russian woman's heart and soul...her traditional values and culture.

I wouldn't ever want the woman I met and married to change. Maybe it was this type of woman that attracts men from America. Yet there are also many women in America who have the same personalities as what you described. I don't think American women (AW) are that much different when it comes to giving and caring about other people.

I've been fortunate to meet and marry a nice girl from America once. She was very caring and concerned at one time, but people change. After many years of marriage we became strangers living in the same house. I may be at fault for some of our problems, but it doesn't matter because "we" both changed at some point in our lives.'

I will bring my Ukrainian girlfriend to Europe or America someday. I will not ask her to change, nor will I change. We are two distinct people and that is what makes us love and care about each other. Granted she makes different dishes than I am used to, but in the same token, I also make dishes that she may not have had in the past.

I will cook, clean the apartment (or house), wash my clothes, go to work and be the same man I was before her arrival. I am this same person twenty years ago and won't change. I don't expect she will change either.

Well this is a long post and I must return to work now. See it's Sunday and I must work because sometimes it makes me feel good and I enjoy working. I won't change either...well maybe a little, so she will also change a little...don't you agree?

Katya,
It is a commonly held axiom, that you cannot enter a relationship expecting to change the other person.

Tom,

" But I do not agree that a person (Russian or otherwise) will never change. The important thing to know is; One person cannot CONTROL how the other person will change."

This is so true...and sadly, it is probably much quicker when you marry a woman from another country...because it is easier for them to grow (or out-grow) the relationship much faster than a man.

G'day everyone,

yeah thats certainly an interesting question. I can only really state what i know about myself being an 'englishman' living in 'the land of the long white cloud', in a lot of ways nz is very similiar to back home, predominately anglo-saxon, white western culture but once you delve beneath the surface of what i am as a person, my beliefs, ideals and norms its soon obvious that i am fundamentally different. I've been here 6 years, but in certain repects my friends find me a little different. eg, people here eat real healthy, muesli for breakfast etc, whereas i'm the atypical english, bacon, eggs, fried bread sorta-guy; a can't find anything funny about nz brand comedy but show me an episode of monty python and i'm in stitches etc etc. These are only tiny differences but they make a difference. But to me thats what makes the world heaps more fun, nothing predictable, nothing obvious. Besides if i wanted someone just like me, i'd stay single, lock myself away, buy a stack of pornos's, paint the nails on my left hand red and 'go for it' (come on jon, admit it, you've tried it http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )
I'd never turn my back on who i am as a person and if my 'partner' did she probably would'nt be the girl for me.

cheers liam

ps katya, find me a man who says a girlfriend has never tried to change him and i'll show you a man who's either a liar or a virgin http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif lol http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm a right-hander. Besides, if I knew what my left hand was doing while I slept, I'd probably have to cut it off... http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hi Katya,

yeah it would be a mighty tricky problem, all i really know from personal experience is that i know when i have tried to fundamentally change myself, who i am as a person my beliefs, values etc that its possible to convince yorself that for the sake off another that you should and must change. But deep down, somewhere in your mind and body a big fight evolves and starts to consume you and one day they'll be a big panic in your head (who am i???), i think thats when divorce happens. The trick i guess is to find that 'ideal person" who'll accept you for what you are, thats the major difficulty. As for being a russian, englishman, american, whatever in a new country, its way cool.

as the great man Popeye said, "i am what i am"

Nice thing about dual citizenship...born in England and raised in the U.S.

May be heading back to the U.K. in a couple of months. I was thinking of going back to Manchester...

About the Dutch babes...yeah, had to take a rain check. Would have if I hadn't already found the next ms...have a hard time with the idea of fricking around on her because then she could do the same...have to believe in fair play.

Bye,

Actually my family is quite Scottish and Irish. Something to do with McCarthy and Rhodes...Inman, and Campbell.

Hi Katya,

When it dawned on me to look to the FSU for a potential girlfriend/wife it all seemed very romantic (maybe I've seen too many James Bond movies) getting exposed to a different culture and possibly a different way of looking at life.

But I've heard many horror stories of women that were brought to America only to leave the man and take much of what he had before he met her.

I can find that kind of woman easy enough on my own turf without going through all the time and expense of getting to know someone 6000 miles away all the while weeding out the scammers.

So I'm not so keen on it anymore.

G'day craig,

yeah man, thats a full on horror story (thanks for the link). I guess though in a way he was lucky that it happened in his home enviornment, at least he was in his own country. I fully dread what could happen if you found yourself trapped in a foreign country though. At the end of the day it must be more of a risk for the russian girl coming to a different country, especially if she is also relying upon her 'partners' money. (no money = no freedom). You only need to have a quick look at some of the "alternative" sites on the net to find some deeply bizzare men with equally dodgy habits. I don't suppose it would be too hard to arrange for a girl to come to your country and have her as some sort of way-out sex slave.
The guy in the story was very hard done by, but the level of hassels he took was intriguing, i seriously doubt that i would accept that sort of behaviour (for me it would be like being at work!!!!), in my private life. But loves a funny thing.............

as the scottish say "never marry for money, you'll borrow it cheaper"

Hey Liam...I'm with Katya and Tinker Bell. I hope you stick around. You remind me of my old mates who had a "brilliant" sense of humor!

liam,

that's just a name I never heard of - from some mythology too? http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
And some friends of mine call me Pixie - that's for sure from Scottish, as I was told, something like little evil fairy http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

hi vicky, er tinker bell was'nt evil, in a perverted sorta way she was kind supposed to be quite sexy. She was in the fable Peter Pan, in the move with robin williams, tinker bell was played by julia roberts. http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif liam

Serge,

of course I didn't think that http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Though right now I'm thinking of changing the avatar, so that further on there won't be any wild guesses, actually right now I'm choosing the other one, so next time there are no bells and no tinkers

g'day all, well i was just reading todays newspaper and theres a story about a russia border guard on the russian/georgia border, who yesterday while tripping on magic mushrooms shot all his fellow soldiers. http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif bizzare!!!!!!. anyway next year when i plan to visit russia i was wanting to go to georgia, i've read quite a few novels and books of poetry based there so my questions is, apart from dodgy border guards is georgia safe for me to go looking around?, maybe katya or vicky can help with my answer,

cheers liam

hi vicky,

thanks for the advice, i'd kinda worked it out myself but it was great to hear advice from someone in the general region. I've followed the problems in chechnya over the last decade or so (there are many sites on the net and the whole counrty seems like a nightmare), and its definately extremely unhealthy to be any where in the vicinity. Its a big shame about georgia, the culture there is quite amazing and i'd always wanted to visit the mtatsminda and st davids church that over-look tbilisi. Oh well, in another life perhaps.

cheers liam

ps. its safe to go to volograd though is'nt it?http://datingtalk.info/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif??
