Russian women are portrayed to Western men as intelligent with traditional values and family oriented. The majority of the women listed on these sites are divorced or unmarried with children. Would Russian women be more accurately portrayed as unfaithful, promiscuous and/or unaware of birth control?

Russians have a more open mentality toward sex than we do. If you don't know that, then you have no business looking for a Russian woman. I used to meet girls and take them to bed with a lot more ease than women of other nations. Perhaps the novelty of the being with a foreign man thing, but do not be deceived. My last Russian girlfriend in Odessa enjoyed to play the field. She did not know that I was being informed of her moves.

Dear gentlemen!!!
Don't you know that for a long time Russia had a different way of development and people were not so career driven as in the west but more family-oriented ? It's possibly more correct to say that they were forced to be family-oriented first of all because it was even indecent to be still unmarried at the age of 23-25 (by the public opinion). Nobody wants to be called an old maid at that age so mostly girls got married in their early 20s, gave birth to children because the government supported young families. In the last decade things have been changing , life here became more democratic, people can choose to live their lives independent of the government control or public opinion , that's why there has been such an increase in divorce rate. Besides, don't forget that it's a very big country with millions of population , that's why there are so many of them on the dating sites. And let me also point out that if you initially have this negative attitude towards Russian women and treat all of them like whores, if your only goal is to take them to bed and compete with your fellows who got more, you shouldn't be there !!!!! That's lousy!!!

April_Beauty, thanks for the insight. Is it your view the women on these web sites are not truly representative of the Russian woman; that they tend to attract a lot of undesirables and scam-artists? Would a foreign man be bettered served traveling to Russia, preferably a smaller town
and completely avoid the internet?
Oga, it's kind of difficult to have a boyfriend - girlfriend relationship living thousands of miles apart.

Oligarch, Russian women on these websites are true representatives of the current situation in Russia. There's lack of men because of constant wars that we've had for centuries ( the Great Patriotic War- 26 million people perished, mostly men, then Afganistan, now Chechnya for 8 years already , where lots of young men are still being killed daily, and please mind that these are the men who are young, healthy and strong to fight , who are at the age when they can give birth to children. So there are women who know that the situation can be so hopeless that she may not even happen to be a mother just because she may not be lucky to have a man only to herself for the reason I mentioned above therefore some make up their minds to have at least a child , because one day it may be too late! That's why you can see unmarried women with children on the dating sites. But they shouldn't be blamed for it, on the contrary, their courage to raise a child on their own should be admired!!! Of course I can't speak for all of them but their decision to leave their families behind and move abroad once they find a man to themselves is only worthy of admiration. A Russian woman is also known as a person who can handle a lot of difficulties and is ready to sacrifice a lot for the benefit of her children or even future children and can be content with very little. And in my opinion most are just taken advantage of by not so successful men . To answer your other question , I wouldn't advise you to travel to Russia with no one to meet you over here because it may be difficult even to find your way around the city as very few people speak English and without a Russian to accompany you , you'll be overcharged everywhere, especially in big cities. Yes, in smaller cities the women are not that spoilt and it can be easier to win their hearts but in bigger cities women are more open-minded, flexible, more educated and experienced ( in the affairs of the heart as well) , it'll be easier for them to integrate into a new society so it depends on what type of woman you are looking for. I am not sure I would avoid the Internet because it's a good means of getting to know another person via e-mail first. Of course there's no guarantee that the person you are talking to is real and is telling the truth but as the saying goes " No pains- no gains" !!!:-) However, if you decide to avoid the Internet and meet a few ladies in person first it can be also a good start , I guess, but for that you should have someone in Russia to arrange it for you. Oligarch, That's correct , I come from a more or less big city with a population of over a millon people therefore I am more experienced and mature than an average 26 year old Russian girl and not only in the affairs of the heart . But have no illusions, I realize very well that I am a very good catch , never married , no children plus lots of other exceptional personal qualities, that's why I have the right to choose myself but not just be chosen...:-) I am very picky and must be spoiled more than an average..;-)
Regarding the other issue you touched upon, if you choose to visit my city , I can indeed offer you assistance as a translator ( essential to have a successful trip to Russia), someone who can meet you, find the girls according to your criteria before your arrival , schedule meetings with them and give you advice.You take care of your visa, flight tickets, hotel booking yourself because I am not a travel agency or a love tour operator. Marv, these intercontinental relationships most often are only illussions, fantasies and dreams. To a large extent they are a creation of the marriage agencies.
Not knowing all the details of your situation, I can speculate that either:
1) Reality set in at the Paris rondez-vous and she didn't have the heart to tell you, or.....
2) Your fiancee was completely heartless and you were the victim of the "all expenses paid-two weeks vacation in Paris- scam".
As unfantomable as the second scenario might seem, if you do a google search for Russian marriage scams you will find this type of scam mentioned and you may even find a picture of your gal among the dozens of scammers posted.
Katja, can you elaborate on "our women of merit" as it pertains to the multitude of scams perpetrated by Russian women?

our real women in the biggest part are really nice. But who was say you, that that woman , who write to you are women at all? Some men ( from different countries of the word ) have such hobby. and some of they take money from trustful men. - it is first.
second. on site you can see only one, little-little part of woman , ever because we must can using computer and know English rather good.

may be you was doing mistake. I'll explain , why. A lot of agency take picts of nice girl from another agencys, and have it on it's sites. I know, becouse I am tired find my picts in different part of the Internet and saying - please, I am not need in it. Broken my profile. - but it is me. I can find it, and they'll remove it. But a lot of girl not looking i Internet often. So, may be you woman wasn't know that her profile using on he another sites.
and one more. One day I was wait one * very good man * in airport. long- long time. But he wasn't come. I wasn't take money from him - and I'll not take from anybody, ever if I'll really need.
after 3 days he was write a letter for me, that he was meet one very good girl in Moscow, and want to marry on her.
After two weeks he was write, that he wasn't meet any girl, that he love me, and I must forgive he.
now it is funny for me. but that time....

Dear Marv,
I know the process for fiancee visa to the US ( K-visa) well enough to conclude that you just didn't go though with it at all!!! It's nonsense !!! When applying for such a visa for your foreign fiancee you should file ALL the package of papers ( mostly yours and a couple of forms filled out by her together with a copy of her birth certificate) and only then it can be approved by the INS in the US. If as you say you were approved, all the necessary papers ( Note! on her part as well!!!) must have been submitted, otherwise the INS wouldn't accept them for processing. After the petition is approved , the package is mailed to Moscow but not by regular mail so it can't get lost, either. I am afraid you didn't trust your fiancee and were too suspicious, that's why it didn't work out for you.

I am sorry if I was not clear. The paperwork did reach the embassey in Moscow. The papers that they called "packet three" were lost in the mail. These were the ones that I replaced and sent by DHL.

April Beauty - I just wanted to say that for a Russian your command of the English language exceeds that of some of my friends. People born English speaking mind you. You also seem quite educated yet I can tell you've been jilted by men in the past so you've become robotically analytical about relationships. You seem like the type who would talk while making love which to you is probably just sex until you feel you really get to know the guy. Your maturity in age also shows more than most in this forum even though you're only 26.

You ask any foreigner what their impression of American Servicemen is and you'll all get the same friggin' answer.
When I go overseas I'm insulted at the notion people think I'm an American just because I sound like one to them. I clearly state I'm a CANADIAN and that the differences are huge.
