I'm not an expert at forums (so bear with me), but I seem to be one at attracting scammers.
I have had (well, I regret I have not) 3 since June 2002.
They have earned a very good living out of me, especially the last one, who actually lives in England (the other country was Ukraine, "only" a thousand quid or so went that way).
I am current extracting myself from a complex situation which has resulted in me putting up my house for sale, so I could be called a professional arsehole. This was and still is an extremely professional and cross-border operation. I will sort this one personally.
Undaunted, I am trying my luck again (for Christs sake, I am 48 and about to keel over). I want to find someone. Seriously. But I am having little joy with the UK "natives" (must be ugly or something). There is someone honest out there, I know it. I certainly am, but I am thinking nasty now.
I intend to get revenge. I nearly caught one at a Western Union outlet in Sevastopol, but I was half an hour late.
I have just come across another, literally today. She, it or them have just made contact.
Anyone else fancy having a bit of fun and turning the tables for once? The Scam Busters. I have the time, the money, and the anger. We could give this lot the real runaround and maybe they may end up screwing themselves. There must be a way to inverse the money making situation and hurt these people (any ideas gratefully received). They deserve it, cause they play around with normal guys emotions without any conscience whatsoever.
My only problem at the present is that I have a severe mistrust of anyone I meet on the Internet (sorry), and for all I know this site could be populated with scammer-protectors.
Reality is but a perception.....

It could have been a good idea, though I personally can't see how it might be realized. But it is a good initiative as way too many people suffer from scammers. Make a good plot as far as revenge is a dish that should be served cold.

Once you acclimatise to the fact that half the Russian/Ukrainian police force is taking bribes, you can start to go forward. Indeed, you get co-operation. A part of de-tente, perhaps?
A young lady, Irina, nay Kate, nay WhoNowKnows, was very lucky. I send the money, she collects. Pipped at the post, I was. $500 is not a lot for the satisfaction it is going to give me to get there first.
My hobby until I find someone (a sort of byproduct of surfing, if you will), is catching these people.
At a casino, I can win or lose this amount in an evening, but not quite get the satisfaction. This is hunting without a rifle.
I am now enjoying myself. Call it sad, but you're the guys on this web site along with me; fantacising and romantacising. I'm the one getting something concrete out of it.
Put up or shut up.
Selling a house is a curious affair. Price accuracy doesn't enter in to the equation much, so I have set aside &pound;10,000 for my sort of gambling. I have 2 scammers on the go at present. If I get one arrested and put in a Russian/Ukrainian jail, I will consider that a win.
On the way, however, I may just find that someone special.......

Third - everyone takes bribes, and police are not an exception. Big fourth - where did you see the country that will willingly sue its citizens in favour of foreigners? I might be naive but I can't imagine a situation when I, for instance, decide to sue a British citizen and every British institution will run to help me. They will extract money from me, that I don't doubt, but real help? This is a big question mark.
I understand your anger and your determination to get at least some revenge. Let me ask you one question. When you finally, as a by-product of your revenge, find the one special for you, are you going to tell her how congenially you were hunting scammers until you found her? Of course I needn't wait till I was asked for money, he (the "girl" was obviously a man) simply didn't ask 3 questions, I asked him 3 times in my 3 mails to "him" (and he gave furthermore many other hints).

The girl was #26027 from 30th October - I just looked at: he's disappeared! - but at least another "girl" from him from Nikolaev I saw here.

I wrote a last letter to the girls adress but applied to him as a
"supposed" agency owner ;-))

I've had a couple of attempted scammers, and I'd agree with 777's list of dead-giveaway 100%. The first reply I ever got was from a scammer, and it was so obvious and clumsy, even to someone who had never received a reply before, that it may as well been sent from iwantyourcash@scams_r_us.ru.

That's not to say that there aren't more accomplished scammers out there with more effective and elegant techniques, but if the few I have seen are anything to go by I can't believe anyone falls for them.

I suppose it must come down to how badly you want to believe someone is telling the truth. Personally, I'm probably a fair bit younger than most of the guys who go looking for a Russian lass, I am in no hurry and it won't be a huge distaster if I don't find one, so maybe I am more able to see through them. Who knows.
